Virtual Office vs Shared Office: What You Need to Know

Arvel BarryBy Arvel BarryMay 12, 2018No Comments3 Mins Read

In this modern age of doing business, companies are tapping innovative ways of carrying out their day-to-day operations. Among others, one way by which they do this is through having a different kind of office. Traditional offices are expensive. That being said, there are alternatives worth considering – a shared or coworking space and a virtual office, both of which are offered by Common Desk.

If in case you are confused, virtual and shared offices might have the same benefits, but they are actually different in some ways. The rest of this post will provide insights on how the two kinds of offices are different.

What is a Virtual Office?

As the name implies, a virtual office is an online office, which means that it is in the cyberspace. If you are using a virtual office, this means that there is no physical space wherein you can complete your work. Rather, you will exist virtually on the internet.

With a virtual office, you can enjoy most of the services that are also present in a traditional office. Your business will have a physical address. You will have a phone number and a call answering service. There is even a virtual receptionist. Your office, however, will be wherever you are. Wherever you are in the world, you bring your office with you, making it a great choice for digital nomads.

If you are on the lookout for a Plano virtual office to meet your business needs, Common Desk is a promising choice. The latter also happens to provide a coworking space, making it possible to enjoy the best of both worlds.

What is a Shared Office?

With a shared office or a coworking space, on the other hand, there is a physical space where you can actually complete the work. However, unlike in a traditional office, you are sharing the space with other people. Most tenants opt to rent a desk or a table.

In a shared office, there are also facilities that you can enjoy in a conventional office, such as high-speed internet and conference rooms. It is a good way to conduct your business activities without the need to rent your own space, making it financially-wise.

In a shared office, you will still need to travel all the way to the place of work. In a virtual office, on the other hand, there is no need to do it since your office is basically online, allowing you to complete tasks regardless of where you are.

One thing that we liked the most about a shared office is that it is the closest thing to having an actual office. It creates a positive impression amongst clients and can also make employees more productive while being provided with a degree of freedom and flexibility.

In sum, virtual and shared offices may be different, but they are the same in the sense that they both offer an alternative to the modern businessmen and employees. They provide new kinds of offices where business activities can be conducted without the need to spend a fortune.
